Hugo Boss Biography

Hugo Ferdinand Boss was born in Metzingen, Germany, on July 8, 1885. He was the founder of clothing company Hugo Boss AG.

He started his company in Metzinger, Germany in 1923 his specialiality was work clothes and uniforms.

Hugo Boss died on August 9, 1948, at the age of 63. Following his death the company passed to his son-in-law, Eugen Holy. And was later passed on to his grandsons Jochen and Uwe Holy in the late 1960s.

It was under their management that the Hugo Boss fashion group emerged in the subsequent decade, with its focus on menswear under the Boss core brand.
